Dr Antonio Pesce is a general surgeon working at the Ospedale del Delta, Lagosanto, University of Ferrara, Italy. PhD in Basic and Applied Biomedical Sciences, curriculum in Experimental Surgery and Anatomy, University of Catania. He trained in Italy, France and Sweden. He was awarded a Clinical and Research Fellowship at the Division of General, Digestive and Endocrine Surgery, Hôpital Saint Louis, Paris. Research Fellowship in the Laboratory for Transplantation Biology and Regenerative Medicine at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital of Gothenburg, Sweden. He was involved in different research projects related to intestinal preservation and transplantation. He is affiliated to different research societies. Treasurer of the Italian Society of Surgical Research (SIRC) from 2014 to today. Councillor of the Sicilian Society of Surgery (SSC) 2017-2019. Councilor of the International Society of Experimental Microsurgery (ISEM), 2018-2024. Co-investigator European Registry on Fluorescent Image Guided-Surgery (Euro-FIGS) in collaboration with IHU-IRCAD center of Strasbourg (France) and the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery (EAES). Research interest areas: hepato-biliary and colorectal surgery, laparoscopy and new technologies and innovation in surgery. He is involved in several research projects regarding fluorescence image guided surgery, experimental microsurgery, minimally-invasive surgery and new technologies. He is author of several publications and book chapters.
