Aims and Scope

The mission of Digestive Medicine Research (Dig Med Res; DMR; Online ISSN: 2617-1627) is to deliver up-to-date authoritative coverage of basic, translational, clinical research and operative techniques in digestive diseases, including but not limited to esophagology, gastroenterology, hepatobiliary pancreas, and related fields. Consistent with its mission, DMR as an international peer-reviewed open-access journal focuses on Original Articles, Review Articles, Case Reports, dedicated Video Submissions (“How I Do It”).

Digestive Medicine Research (DMR) is the official journal of the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. Under the auspices of the hospital, DMR warmly welcome authors who will identify new findings that are changing the practice of medicine and to advise readers how to apply them in daily patient care. All submissions and review processes of DMR are conducted electronically to expedite the reviews and publication process. DMR features fast-track publication, which means articles are going to be published promptly once accepted, without delay in fitting the publication frequency.

Information for Authors

DMR is a member of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and it follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)'s guidelines and the ICMJE recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journal.

Manuscripts submitted must be the original work of the author(s) and must not be published previously or under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Submission Turnaround Time

  • In-house review: 1-3 weeks
  • External peer review: 1-3 months
  • Publication Ahead of Print: within 1 month after being accepted
  • Formal publication: within 1-3 months after being accepted. Original Articles are listed as priority.

Publication Schedule

Published continuously from May 2018 to Dec. 2020, DMR now follows a quarterly publication model (March, June, September, December).

Digestive Medicine Research is a peer reviewed, open access journal. All content of the journal is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial- NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). All articles published open access will be immediately and permanently free for all to read, download, copy and distribute as defined by the applied license.

Permitted third party reuse is defined by the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. This license allows users to copy and distribute the article, provided:

Introduction of The Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU)

The Seventh Affiliated Hospital of SYSU (http://www.sysush.com/en) has been constructed under the “Sanming Project” of Shenzhen Government as a major project to improve patient outcome. The Hospital will become the largest hospital in the Shenzhen area, providing a suite of the most comprehensive clinical specialties, the high patient flow, the best advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, the highest talent pool and the best medical ethics.

The Hospital is funded by the Shenzhen government and is directly affiliated as well as operated by SYSU. The Hospital covers an area of 235,000 square metres and will have a capacity of 4,000 hospital beds. The first phase of construction started with 800 beds and opened for admissions in 2018; and the second phase of construction will start soon and be completed and operational in 2020.

As a part of the medical discipline of SYSU, which has a 100-year cultural heritage, the Seventh Hospital of SYSU aims to expand into a modern, large-scale, comprehensive hospital integrating medicine, teaching, scientific research, disaster emergency, protection and rehabilitation within a 5-10 year timeframe. It will become not only the regional medical and health center, the Public Health and Disaster Treatment Center of Shenzhen, but also a Disease Prevention and Rehabilitation Center at national level.
