Ulrich-Frank Pape, MD

Dr. Ulrich-Frank Pape studied Medicine at the Free University of Berlin, Germany, between 1989 and 1997, and at New England Medical Center and Joslin Diabetes Center/Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, in 1995/96. During his residency at the Charité he also did a postdoctoral research fellowship in tumor cell biology at the German Cancer Research Center DKFZ in Heidelberg. He holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Emergency Medicine and is currently Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at Asklepios Klinik St. Georg in Hamburg, Germany, and a research associate of the Intestinal Failure Team at the Department of Hepatology and Gastroenterology at Charité Campus Mitte, Charité University Medicine Berlin, Germany.

Dr. Pape specialises in clinical care as well as clinical and translational research of nutritional medicine, chronic intestinal failure, intestinal rehabilitation and gastrointestinal cancers particularly neuroendocrine neoplasms with a focus on gastrointestinal endocrinology.

He is a member of the Professional Association of German Internists (BDI); German Society for Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (DGVS); German Working Group of Medical Oncologists (AIO); German Society of Endocrinology (DGE); German Society of Nutritional Medicine (DGEM); European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN); German Registry of Neuroendocrine Tumours (speaker of NET-Registry); and the European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society (ENETS).

He is author and coauthor of multiple publications on his research topics and of several national and international Short Bowel and ENETS Consensus papers., He has received research awards from ENETS and the United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW).
