Tevfik Tolga Sahin was born in 1978 and received his preliminary education in the United States of America, Iowa City Iowa in Roosevelt Primary School. After returning to Turkey, he graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2001. He completed his residency at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine Department of Surgery in 2006. He earned his Ph.D. at Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine Department of Surgery II in Japan and he worked actively on oncolytic viral therapy for cancer. He became an associate professor of surgery in 2012 and was appointed as a full professor of surgery in 2019. He is an attending surgeon at Inonu University Liver Transplant Institute and he is currently the senior scientist of Hepatology Research Laboratories in the same institute. His main area of interest is pancreatic carcinogenesis, antitumor immunity in cancer and also use of mesenchymal stem cells for the treatment of various gastrointestinal diseases including acute liver failure. He has written over 5 book chapters and has over 130 internationally peer-reviewed studies.
